Fighting games are back — and they are a steal second-hand
Rollback netcode, packed tournaments, a new wave of players — the fighting-game scene is louder than it has been in years. Which is great news for a second-hand shop, because when everyone chases the newest release, last generation's excellent fighters quietly drop in price.
Where the value is
Tekken 7 is still one of the deepest 3D fighters ever made and now goes for a fraction of launch. SoulCalibur VI brought weapon-fighting back and plays beautifully. BlazBlue: Central Fiction is the anime-fighter connoisseur's pick, and Samurai Shodown's NeoGeo Collection is a history lesson you can actually enjoy.
Buy for the couch, not just online
Here is the thing nobody tells you: fighting games are best in the same room, two controllers, snacks, trash talk. Online is great, but a shelf of fighters is a party starter. Grab two pads, pick four games, and you have a night sorted.
